Karnival est fier d’accueillir J-Wow, fameux producer de Buraka Som Sistema, qui viendra jouer à Montréal en solo pour la première fois!

Karnival, la soirée mise sur pied par Poirier, poursuit ainsi son travail de défrichage. Depuis octobre 2009 vous avez pu entendre et voir: Kode 9, Uproot Andy, Tasha Rozez, Paul Devro, Dub Boy, Ghostbeard, Bonjay, Valeo, Rilly Guilty, Jacob Cino, VoIoNoCo, Face-T, Boogat, Mikey Dangerous, Mr OK, Omnikrom, Numéro.

The Montreal don Poirier draws on reggae and dub for the piping hot riddim roundabout he put together for the third LOOKOUT mixtape. Much like Spectacular says on the track featured, Poirier is badder than dem, madder than dem and rougher than dem. The vibe is exactly that, but even so, culminates in a smooth tropical sound.

Named after Poirier and Ghostbeard’s Sud-West party at Montreal’s Lachine Canal, this mix is a must listen for patio lovers, and winter hermits alike. Much like the traveling DJ/producer, the Sud-West mix goes all around the Caribbean with conscious island jams from Mr Vegas, Alborosie, Richie Spice and more. Skank away.

Guillaume Simoneau recently won Le Grand Prix Lux en photographie: promotion d’artiste! Congrats to Simoneau who came with the very relevant Polaroid concept for the three 12″ of Soca Sound System, Run The Riddim and Low Ceiling. All that work leading to the double CD album of Running High.

Just did a mix/podcast for XLR8R and Ninja Tune! It’s actually to celebrate the 20 years of the label so I selected tracks only from their catalogue (Ninja Tune / Big Dada). I wanted to show the dub/reggae/dancehall side of the label, and even included some brand new tracks from the Ninja Tune XX Compilation and some soon to be released goodies.
I had really to force myself to not make it an all-Roots-Manuva-selection! Still, he’s represented with 7 tracks.
