Wha-La-La-Leng feat. Face-T have been nominated for the Juno 2010 (Canada’s Grammy/Brit Awards) in Reggae Recording of the Year! It’s the first time Poirier is nominated at the Juno. The galas will be on April 17 and 18 in St. John’s. Wha-La-la-Leng video here.
In the meantime, Face-T and Poirier are in the studio, recording Face-T’s first solo album. Expect it late 2010.

I’m working on that great project/documentary called US of Africa (Les États-Unis d’Afrique) directed by Yanick Létourneau from Périphéria. Obviously, I’m working on the music. I’ll do the whole soundtrack for the movie and that’s very exciting and challenging. It will be my first time being involved in a projet like that.
The movie, a long-feature, to do a long-short story, is about Hip-Hop, about black leaders in Africa and North America, about social and political views, about Dakar, Johannesburg, Bronx, about hope, about a new vision and way more.
So last week I had a meeting to see some of the pre-edits and rushes. I feel very involved in the project since I know and met some of the key figures in the movie. I was in Burkina Faso when Norbert Zongo was killed/calcinated in 1998… It was such an intense and troubled period there… You can see Awadi (top picture), Smockey (just below) in the rushes, some of the best rappers from Africa that met long time ago.
