To welcome 2012 I did a mix for the excellent Channel One Station, a “podcast station dedicated to documenting the evolution of urban electronic music from all over the globe.”
It’s a mix showing my love for reggae/dub/dancehall through electronic and club music. It’s a blend of exclusive tracks/dubplates with new tracks and some hard to find tracks. I wanted to do something to start the year not in mayhem, but in nice bass vibrations.

Première mondiale du documentaire Les États-Unis d’Afrique lors des Rencontres Internationales du Documentaire de Montréal (RIDM). Il s’agit d’un projet de longue haleine mené par le réalisateur Yanick Létourneau et pour lequel j’ai composé la bande sonore. Le film sera projeté le 10 novembre à 20h.

“Pour le rappeur sénégalais Didier Awadi, le hip-hop n’est pas un moyen d’atteindre une célébrité clinquante et tapageuse, mais une arme au service d’un combat politique : celui que doit mener l’Afrique pour gagner son indépendance et son unité. Depuis les années 50, plusieurs leaders ont mené cette lutte avant lui. Pour leur rendre hommage et appuyer ce discours essentiel, Awadi a conçu l’album engagé Présidents d’Afrique en visitant une quarantaine de pays et en nouant de nombreuses collaborations. Des rues de Dakar jusqu’à l’investiture d’Obama, en passant par les élections en Afrique du Sud et des remises de prix musicaux à Ouagadougou, Les États-Unis d’Afrique nous fait suivre ce périple passionnant, tout en révélant un visage de l’Afrique, fier et plein d’espoir, encore trop rarement montré. A quick note to let you know that I’m verry happy to announce that my next ep SOCA ROAD will be released by the great label Mixpak Records! The ep is planned to be released on Januray 17, 2012 just in time for the Carnival season.
It’s four brand new tracks all running at the wonderful speed of 160 bpm. It also have featurings by Imposs (Haïti/Canada) and EJ Von Lyrik (South Africa).
Cover art is about to be done soon and the moment I have it I’ll post it here.

Boogat have just released the brand new ep PURA VIDA! The ep have four tracks and I’ve been involved in two of them: Dos Cervezas and El Hueso. We cooked the ep on a nice and sunny summer day in Montreal! After the mixtapes (mixtape 1 and mixtape 2) it was logic for Boogat to bring you some original material. It’s our good friends at Masalacism label who released the ep. What? You don’t know yet their awesome blog and radio show as well?
Also, if you are in Montreal are planning to come in Montreal be sure to check Boogat’s party Nuvo Tumbao where you can see him performing some brand new stuff!
